Hi Don,
I didn't book because of the
outside chance of the dates still moving around, and wouldn't book until the
reunion times are etched in white stone. Postponement would not a problem for
me.
Fond regards,

Hi Don
At the meeting yesterday at
Dennis Gurley's office the question as to what effect, if any, would postponing
the reunion have on those who are interested in coming to the reunion scheduled
in October.
Can you forward this question
to the relevant persons in your e-mail listing?
Many thanks.

Hi Don,
The first postponement (made
for good reasons) caused me to unfortunately have to review and cancel my
tentative plans to attend.
Depending on what the new
dates are, I might actually be in a (provisional) position to attend!
Best Rgds

Dear All,
There was a meeting of the
Organising Committee in Trinidad yesterday. I was not able to get down to
Trinidad for the meeting.
As you will see from the
emails below, they want to know whether a further postponement of the Reunion
would cause any one of us any inconvenience at all. Please let us know whether
any of you has booked an airline ticket as yet.
And, no, I do not know why a
postponement is being contemplated. I’ll know more about the reasoning when I
see the Minutes of the meeting. But, for the moment, just let us know the
answer.
Keep well, all.

Hello, Neil,
Good to hear from you.
I think a lot of guys are
serious about attending. It is just that not many of us are good
correspondents. Out of the 300 I have just sent out this email to, not more
than 10 will respond one way or the other. That is 3.3%, which, on past
experience, will be a good response!
Also, because of the
money-laundering laws of Trinidad we have been catching hell trying to get a
bank account that can handle receiving the registration deposits that we are
all going to pay. Some of the venues we have in mind cannot be booked without a
deposit. Without a good, dependable, swift, efficient, and inexpensive way to
get small sums to Trinidad, it has been difficult to accept registrations.
Without the registration fees, we don’t have funds to make the deposit!!
Catch 22.
Keep well.

Don,
So far I am not happy with the
amount of guys that's serious about this reunion, with all the time and effort
by you and the organizers I am disappointed! I have no problem with them putting it off, to
tell you the truth. I was expecting this!
All the best, and thanks for all you
have done.

Thank you, Rudi.
I am copying to the members of
the Organising Committee who are meeting in Trinidad today.
Sorry for the delay in
replying, but my email did not recognise you and put you in an unmentionable
place!
Keep well.

Gentlemen,
Given the wonderful initiative
of Don's in spearheading the organisation of this year's reunion and the
enthusiasm with which he has been joined, especially by Fr. Harold, Ronald
Hadeed (class of 66), and Tony Vieira (class of 64) and mindful of the
tremendous work, organisation and planning necessary for the event to be both a
financial and fraternal success, I am reminding you of tomorrow’s meeting which
has been rescheduled to 1:00 pm at Dennis Gurley's office JD Sellier and
Co.
Tony Vieira will be arriving
from Guyana, "Specks", Dennis Gurley, Chris Knowles, Fr. Harold,
Peter Sammy, Gary Matthews, Winston Ramsahai have confirmed attendance. and I
will attend.
Jimmy Samaroo has asked to be
excused and I have been unable to make contact with Joe Habib and Enrique
Bonapart either by phone or email. I hope that Ronald will attend.
It is obvious, from the
exchange of emails, that despite the fact that those of us who are directors of
the formal organisation were grateful for the opportunity to do as little work
as possible that the success of this initiative needs the support, assistance
and possibly some resources from the association, apart from wider
ownership.
I don't believe that we should
attempt to avoid some sort of more direct ownership, without attempting to take
its management over directly, in any way.
As I see it, this is
potentially a once in a lifetime opportunity to get substantial
intergenerational participation and it shouldn't be wasted.
Kindly conform your attendance
and make any comments that you wish in return.
Sincerely,
Joe

Dear Alumni,
We are in the process of
making arrangements for a new Events Organiser. Arrangements with the last one
fell through.
We are shortly to inform
everyone of (1) the bank account for you to send your registration fee to; and
(2) the address to which to confirm your registration.
We are also shortly to send
out a confirmed programme of activities. We are arranging for group discounts,
so please note up your diary now.
The Members of the Organising
Committee, besides me, are as listed above, in case you have a question for any
one of us.
Keep well.

Subject: Re: Reunion 2014
Dear Don,
I have just received your
email, unfortunately my response can be only to you as I cannot see who was
blind copied in it, kindly pass our message on to the others and particularly
the person who penned it.
In response, the budget was
developed since April and sent to you along with updates as we went along. The
budget was also reformatted to your team’s liking and resent to you earlier
this month. Copies of these emails have been attached to refresh your memory.
The budget keeps changing to
satisfy the requests/suggestions of the committee and a lot of ground work went
into gathering all this information from all the hotels. Numerous phone calls,
several site visits and meetings with various venues/financial institutions.
One venue in particular also expressed frustration with this event as an "Old
Boy" presented himself as a member of the organising committee and
solicited the same information which was already submitted to us. The hotel
called us to find out exactly how many people are planning this same event and
who they should liaise with.
An overseas reunion in fact is
a simple event however the complex personalities involved in its planning are
making it a bit challenging for us to be able to exercise our event management
skills, in fact all we have done so far is act as a secretariat responding to
not only your needs but also the needs of committee members who were messaging
us privately on the side.
You are welcomed to keep and
make use of the budget, contact information and event plan which is Bee
Marketing and Event’s creative property at no cost. As mentioned in my
email earlier, we are in agreement that we should part ways and do sincerely
wish you the best in your plan moving forward, perhaps an administrative person
may be best suited for the job. If there is anything else you would like
us to share with you please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Shira
