Dear Friends,
We are continuing to focus on
the REUNION, some are old news but I am sure that your comments are valuable
for the success of the meeting.
Maybe I should not publish
these emails because the agenda is preliminary but I believe that all opinions
are valid and should be taken into consideration.

Mar 25
Hello, Paul,
This year is
your and my 50th Anniversary of graduating from Mount.
Hence, perhaps,
the great need for the Reunion.
I do look
forward to seeing you there.
Sincerely,
Don

Hi Don,
Great
initiative!
Thanks for the
update - with the dates I will start to see whether I can go as the dates may
conflict with other commitments that will fall in the same period.
Anyway, I will
give it a good try!
I have not been
in Trinidad since I left in 1964!
Best rgds
Paul

Dear
all,
This
is our update on the plans for the Reunion as they developed after the meetings
of the Organising Committee in Trinidad last week.
We
are confident that Mrs Shira Mohammed and her assistant Justine Low will do a
good job for us.
Their
email addresses are:
Mrs
Mohammed: beemarketingandevents@gmail.com
Ms
Low: justine.low6@gmail.com
You
may have heard by now that Fr Abbot has not been able to accommodate our
request for a special Mass at 10:30 (which would have got us to our Luncheon
just before noon).
We
shall have to go to one of the earlier, regular Abbey Masses.
That
will give us a longer lime to lime at the lunch venue between the end of Mass
and the time for lunch. Let us make good use of it.
Look
forward to hearing from Ms Low as she begins to develop the list of
registrants, and informs us how to pay for registration.

Just learnt of
the death of David Basanta last night.
He was both
student and teacher of our Abbey School.
No info re

I am in touch

He has been
ailing for a long time, in and out of hospital, and having surgery a few weeks

May he rest in

Hello Garnet,
I've only just
received an email from my dear friend, Glen McKoy, who says he had telephoned
you today after receiving a note from Ladislao Kertesz (Venezuela) asking him
to call you. What a roundabout story!!
Glen - thank you
for following up on Laz's request, and for including me in your response. Great
job!
So, you've been
found, and I'm not sure exactly what Glen had to say to you, but on behalf of
the Old Boys of the Abbey School, let me welcome you to our little Association.
Ladislao was the initiator of this project about 12-13 years ago, and he has
been the driving force behind all our efforts to bring the OB's together in
various parts of the world. As a result of his good work, we have held a number
of mini-reunions in different places. Here in Ontario we have also held quite a
few and it has been a pleasure to bring together as many as we could find, for
a supper with our wives and children, for a roti evening, and so on.
I should point
out that no-one in Ontario is in charge of the Association's activities in this
area. Anyone is free to invite us to whatever little function he'd like to
host, and, so far as is possible, everyone pays his own bills, so it's not
burdensome.

(Re: Sir Garnet Diaz)
Hello, Mi
Hermano, Ladislao,
Always good to
hear from you. Hope all is well, Chief Editor, and life is good.
I called our
brother Garnet Diaz, went to the Mount in 1955-57 then to St. Mary's. He is from
Trinidad, but also lived in Aruba. He now lives in Freelton, near Hamilton,
Ontario.
He is the great,
great, great grandson, of Chacon, the last Spanish Governor General, of Trinidad
& Tobago, which automatically makes him a Knight, ha! ha!.
Anyhow, this guy
has a memory like an elephant. We spoke
for at least 2 hours. Nigel, you must make contact, he knew Peter Boos,
and String Bean De Silva, Froggy, Attila the Space Man, Bubbles Agostini, Lucky
Samaroo, Gregory Ames, Papa Lou, Jean Claude Laune, Moussy Farah, Pud Laquis,
and his brother George, Leslie King from Guyana, Wilson - Chinese guy, Laz, and
many more. What a memory this guy have. He told me of this old guy who used to come
up on the Mount and play the piano.
Some nice old stories, he never saw the swimming pool. For those of you who do know Garnet, please
do join me in saying,
Welcome To The
Club Mi Amigo. Sir Garnet Diaz - garnetdiaz@gmail.com Tel: 905-659-4088.
Thank you Sir
Anthony/ Knight Judge, for your call today, always a pleasure to hear from yuh,
and a good laugh too, ha! ha! Nice talking with you, have a good flight to
Hamburg
Cheers, Mis Amigos
- Adios-. Glen.

Hey Glen...
I feel honored
that he "remembers" me, .... however I don´t see how. I went to the
Mount from 1964 to 1969 .... You say he
was there from 1955 to 1957.
Our paths didn't
cross, as far as I can tell ... And, frankly I do not remember him either.
But welcome to
the club, Garnet.

Hi Ladislao,…
I'm not surprised or insulted that you do not
remember me,.. Hahahaha,.. While I do have a Class picture from 1955,… I
scanned it into my computer ….. but unfortunately it only came out in a Jpeg
format and is just about impossible to make anyone out, … it was Prep-B-Class, …in
which I'm standing in the second row in front of Peter Da Costa, …behind Brent
Gonzalves, …with "Lady Rance" Scott to my right and Day student
Wilson without sweater on my left, …can't remember his first name, …but he was
a math whiz!! Others in the picture, …some
of whose names I don't remember, …from left rear, Fr."Rughead", sorry,
Peter Boos,? Hive ,…? Giannetti, …tall blond Polish guy,, ..Peter da Costa ,..?
Laughlin ( Day student) ,…"Yankee" Vargas, another boy from Venezuela
…and David (Mr. Beam) da Costa, …middle row again from left, …Christian
Goddard, one of the Goddard brothers from Venezuela, …one of the two French guys. One was from Guadeloupe the other from
Martinique, …Giovani Marini, ..Italian from Venezuela, …Stanley Gomes, ….Stanley
Grossberg, …the younger of the two brothers, …"Lady Rance" Scott, (Name
given him by Bro. Vincent), …yours truly, …Wilson, …the other French guy and ?
Hudson ,….Front row from left, the younger of the two brothers from Spain whose
name I also don't remember, ..Jean de Maillac, ..who always had to wear a cap
to prevent him from pulling his hair out, …he was almost bald at age 10, …Jon
Golding, …Birdie (Chinese guy), ..Stephen Clark, (Keskidee), …Brent Gonzalves,
the younger of the two brothers, …Roberto Savorgnian, ..again an Italian from
Venezuela …and last but not least Geofry "Big head" Ames, ..another
younger brother!! You and I were there in the
era of Froggy, ..String bean de Silva, …Leslie Lucky Samaroo, who went on to
become a Judge, …Bubbles Agostini, .."Chimney" de Lima as he was a
chain smoker, .."Papa Lou" Laune, …the Castro brothers from
Venezuela, ….Atela the "Spaceman" ……so many names to remember, …I'm
surprised that I still do, …having left for C.I.C. in 1957 ……Fun going down
memory lane, ..as I do every now and then when I look at my Class picture and
wonder what happened to these people.

Hello, Ladislao,
Decided to do a
Google search to see if there was an Old Boys Union … and was pleasantly
surprised that the first name I saw, was one that I recognized,…yours!!
I attended the
Mount 1955-1957, when I transferred to C.I.C. (St. Mary's College, Port of
Spain)…
Peter Boos,
who'd been a Class mate also moved at the same time and we were once again
Class mates at C.I.C.
The only one I
recognized in the group picture was Brother Vincent, Who of course eventually
left the Order and got married, …the rest were after my time, ….the only King
from Guyana that I knew, ..also a Class mate, …was Leslie, …who kept trying to
escape and return to Guyana because of being home-sick.
Sorry to hear
about Mr Beam (David),… didn't know he was here in Toronto.
Just happened to
see Simon's post, .. about the only other name I recognized was Jon Golding, …if
he's the one I knew, …another Class-mate.
Just a
suggestion here ,… C.I.C. already has one, ….wouldn't it be easier to reach
many more Old Boys with a Facebook page ,…instead of just by email?? …..just
putting it out there, …anyway, …happy to see people are trying to stay
connected, ….was back home in 2010 for a Family Reunion, …took some of my
overseas relatives to show them the Old stomping grounds, …only to find out
that it is now a Drug Rehab Center with a 10 meter high fence with padlocked
gate at the entrance …and all of the Monks gone!! ….What a disappointment.
